We have established highly successful PhD training programmes for non-clinical scientists including the BHF programme in Cardiovascular Disease, Wellcome MRes and PhD programme in Metabolic and Cardiovascular Disease, and the Experimental Medicine Training Initiative (EMI).
Non-clinical 3-year PhD studentships (internal call)
We will fund further 3-year PhD places linked to novel interdisciplinary collaborative cardiovascular research on these programmes, and we are particularly keen to recruit mathematical, computational and physical scientists to train in cardiovascular informatics, statistics and imaging to build capacity in these areas.
Please note that this is an internal call as we are looking for students working on projects that can bridge two or more research areas. We have asked our Centre investigators to identify suitable candidates, and would ask anyone interested in these positions to direct informal inquiries about these studentships to the relevant Centre investigators.
Clinical 1-year Research Training Fellowships
We will also offer Entry Level Clinical Research Training Fellowships (1 year) to support substantive fellowship applications, particularly for a clinician of exceptional promise where an external fellowship application is not feasible or would not secure the candidate in time. Awards will include salary plus £10K to cover consumables and other costs.
More information about CRF posts and application instructions can be found on the University's website:

Informal enquiries about these posts can be directed to Professor Martin Bennett and Dr Katja Kivinen.
