Cambridge Cardiovascular

Is NHST a QRP?

Abstract:  Null Hypothesis Significance Testing should, in some scientific fields, be regarded as a questionable research practice perpetrated by the scientific community as a whole.

Alexander Bird Speaker: Professor Alexander Bird Bertrand Russell Professor of Philosophy at Cambridge University and a fellow of St John's College.

Professor Bird's work on the philosophy of medicine, has in the last few years, centred around the epistemology of medical methods and also examines different aspects of practical experimental methodology including how statistical testing dictates our view of scientific reproducibility and robustness of research. These topics are naturally very close to our hearts and we are eager to have a philosopher's perspective.
