Frontiers in digital therapeutics for cardiopulmonary diseases

Summary

Cardiovascular diseases account for the large majority of the morbidity and mortality due to chronic diseases in the Western World.

Medication adoption and compliance is frequently a barrier to improved clinical outcomes.

Furthermore, there is an increasing burden on already burdened healthcare providers to help patients navigate their health journeys. Thus emerges an urgent need for the development of digital therapy companions to complement standard pathways of care and therapeutic interventions that also offer guidance on appropriate lifestyle adjustments.

Digital therapeutics are patient facing software applications that help patients treat, prevent or manage a disease that have a proven clinical benefit.

In this talk I will discuss the growing phenomenon of digital therapeutics challenges in developing them and how industry and academia can work effectively together towards finding better solutions for our patients.

Teas and biscuits will be provided.
