NIHR East of England Patient and Public Involvement in Health Research Showcase – 16 June 2026 Call for abstracts for talks and poster presentations

To celebrate NIHR20, NIHR Biomedical Research Centre: Cambridge along with other NIHR infrastructures within the East of England: ARC, RRDN, Brain Injury Health Tech, CRF Norwich and Cambridge and Blood and Transplant Research Unit in Donor Health and other BRC colleagues Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, Institute of Metabolic Science and the Clinical School of Medicine, University of Cambridge are hosting a joint showcase of patient and public involvement (PPI) in health research across the East of England.

The East of England PPI showcase will be held on Tuesday 16 June 2026 at the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. We are inviting researchers to submit short abstracts (less than 400 words) for posters or oral presentations of 10 – 15 minutes showcasing examples of the impact PPI has had on their health research. 

Posters and presentation submissions from individual groups or teams, and/or that are co-developed (or presented) with public contributors are welcome. This year we will also hold a PPI panel discussion on “Co-Creating Discovery - The Role of Patient and Public Involvement in Tissue & Organ Donation Research” from 9.20am to 10.20am.

Submission is open to all publicly funded researchers or research groups across the East of England whose research focuses on pre-clinical, translational, clinical research or applied health and social care research.  Posters or talks that have been presented elsewhere previously can be submitted. Talks from last year would need updates or a different emphasis to be considered.

There will be a prize of a £50.00 voucher for the winning poster, as judged by the audience.

All submissions should provide brief information about:

• The research question or project
• How patient and public contributors were involved in the project
• What difference their involvement has made to the research
• Reflections on wider learnings from the experience
