Cambridge Cardiovascular

We are delighted to welcome Verena Körber as the speaker for our first seminar of the year, taking place on Wed 14th January at 3pm (UK time), with a talk on “Evolutionary dynamics governing malignant transformation in the paediatric nervous system”.

Verena Körber is a Group Leader of the Somatic Evolution research group at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine. Her work focuses on developing a quantitative understanding of human stem cell dynamics and their propagation along differentiation cascades in healthy individuals, during ageing, and in malignant transformation.
Prior to starting her group in 2005, she trained in the group of Prof Paresh Vyas at Oxford and of Prof Thomas Höfer at DKFZ, developing novel mathematical models to detect and quantify stem cell clonal selection from bulk genome sequencing of human tissues.
