VPD-HLRI Monthly Seminar Series

We are delighted to welcome Dr Annemarie Docherty (Wellcome Clinical Research Career Development Fellow and an Honorary Consultant in Critical Care, Edinburgh) as the external speaker for this month’s VPD-HLRI Monthly seminar. 

Dr Frank McCaughan (Clinical scientist and Principal Investigator, VPD-HLRI Cambridge) will be our internal speaker.

Talk Titles:

•  Dr Annemarie Docherty – ‘Using real-time, multi-modal data to characterise, diagnose and improve outcomes from critical illness using Myocardial Infarction’
• Dr Frank McCaughan – ‘Early lung cancer – discovery, detection and intervention

Dr. Annemarie Docherty leads ICU-Heart, a multi-disciplinary collaboration that aims to revolutionise the care of Intensive Care patients by harnessing novel approaches in the use of technology and high dimensional data. Our two exemplar projects - diagnosis of myocardial infarction, and multimorbidity - combine key unanswered research priorities with the need for data driven innovation.

Dr. Frank McCaughan leads a translational group with a focus on the application of discovery science to lung/airway pathobiology using clinically relevant model systems derived from patients' cells. He is the Chief Investigator of two multicentre clinical trials addressing early detection and never-smoking lung cancer.
