On behalf of his co-authors, BHF Professor Martin Bennett received the John Shillingford Award at the 2026 ESC Congress. The award recognises the top original research article published in the journal Cardiovascular Research in 2025. The research bridges the gap between discovery and the clinic, offering new insights into how damaged cells in blood vessel walls may contribute to cardiovascular disease and could help pave the way for new treatments.
