Ali Al-Hadithi

Ali Al-Hadithi is a University of Cambridge Academic Clinical Fellow in Cardiology and Internal Medicine.

Ali completed his undergraduate and clinical training at the University of Cambridge (Gonville and Caius College), where he received multiple awards for academic excellence. After completing his foundation programme training in the East of England region, he continued with academic clinical training in Cambridge.

His research experiences range from basic science to clinically focussed studies. Ali’s research has led to multiple peer-reviewed publications, including areas of arrhythmias, heart failure and cardiovascular risk. He was awarded numerous prizes throughout his training, most recently the prestigious Royal Society of Medicine Harvey Prize. Recent research interests involve studying heart failure and cardiac cachexia alongside the role of GDF15, a marker of cellular stress, and the integrated stress response. This includes using a combination of genetic mouse models, immunofluorescence, qPCR and single-molecule in-situ hybridisation RNAscope analysis.

Ali is heavily involved in medical education and has developed numerous teaching materials (most recently clinicianrevision.com), including award-winning online resources. His training in medical education further developed on the University of Cambridge Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education course, where he was awarded a Distinction. He was invited to and completed (a year early) the University of Cambridge Integrated Foundations of Medical Education in 2019 to be awarded AFHEA. He is a University of Cambridge clinical supervisor since 2019.

In addition to teaching, Ali is a lead editor for multiple books on electrocardiograms and radiology.
