Associate Professor of General Practice

Biography

Juliet Usher-Smith is an Associate Professor of General Practice in the Primary Care Unit within the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. She trained in Cambridge and held postdoctoral Fellowships funded by Cancer Research UK and the National Institute for Health and Social Care Research prior to her current post. She continues to work as a General Practitioner in Cambridge and is a Fellow and Director of Studies for Clinical Medicine at Emmanuel College.

Research

Juliet’s research focuses on optimising the implementation of risk-stratified medicine to promote prevention of cancer and cardiovascular disease. This includes the development and validation of risk models as well as considering the societal, psychological and behavioural aspects associated with their implementation.

Alongside research, she is also passionate about supporting teaching and education. As well as teaching medical students and supervising undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral student research projects, she is currently the Strategic Lead for Education and Training within the Department of Public Health and Primary Care.
