The Glycoprotein VI Receptor in Atrial Fibrillation & ThromboEmbolism

(GRAFITE) study will investigate the involvement of platelets in blood clot formation. The research will be carried out on blood samples of individuals admitted to Cambridge University Hospitals with either atrial fibrillation or venous thromboembolism.

We will specifically look at any genetic variances that cause blood clots, as well as investigating the role of the platelet receptor glycoprotein VI in blood clot formation and whether its inhibition could lead to arresting the platelet cascade at an earlier stage and reduce the size of the blood clot.
