Organisation and Research Area

We will be particularly keen to recruit mathematical, computational and physical scientists to train in cardiovascular informatics, statistics and imaging to build capacity in these areas. In general, priority will be given to interdisciplinary projects that promote collaboration between multiple Centre themes:

  • Cardio-metabolic medicine
  • Functional genomics
  • Population sciences
  • Vascular medicine

Further information about the Centre themes and lead researchers can be found on our website: www.cardiovascular.cam.ac.uk/research/cambridgecre

Applicants should have obtained an honours degree (at least equivalent to a UK 2.1) or a Master’s degree in a scientific discipline that is relevant to the project. The Studentship provides a maintenance stipend, University tuition fees at the Home rate, and an amount per year towards other costs (e.g. consumables, animals, travel). Applicants must satisfy the University of Cambridge graduate student entrance requirements.

Applications should consist of:

  • CV of the potential PhD applicant
  • Maximum 2-page research plan (including Title, Background, Hypothesis, Aims, and Experimental plan) describing how the project aligns with the Centre scientific objectives and research aims with emphasis on interdisciplinary, collaborative efforts.
