Research
I am interested in aging-related processes - especially dementia.
My research programme using longitudinal data of people aged 65 and above has run since 1985. Our studies have shown that dementia can occur without pathological changes in brain, and conversely that changes in brain pathology do not always lead to dementia.
I coordinate MRC Cognitive Function and Aging Studies (CFAS) I & II that inform national policy and scientific understanding of dementia.
