I am a statistical geneticist working in the field of health data science with a particular focus on machine learning, genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and improving the performance of polygenic risk scores (PRS) in diverse populations.
I currently work as a postdoctoral research associate at the Heart & Lung Research Institute in Professor Adam Butterworth's lab.

A Professorial Fellow at Homerton College, Cambridge, Mary is also a fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and the Academy of Medical Sciences, an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal College of General Practitioners, and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She was an NIHR Senior Investigator 2017-2022.

Visiting Academic Clinical Fellow

As part of a project funded by the British Heart Foundation and in collaboration with the Cambridge Image Analysis Group, I play a crucial role in developing an AI-based diagnostic tool for coronary artery disease. Using Intravascular Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scans, our tool aims to provide cutting-edge diagnostic capabilities by detecting abnormal tissues and generating clinical measurements. This experience enriches my expertise in medical imaging, AI in healthcare, and advanced data analysis techniques.
