Cambridge Cardiovascular

I am interested in dementia and especially its vascular aspect. I am starting a PhD in the Stroke Research Group under the supervision of Prof. Hugh Markus, with the aim of investigating cerebral small vessel disease and more specifically the role of systemic and central inflammation in the disease.

Cerebral small vessel disease; vascular dementia

Biography

I obtained a BSc(Hons) in Biomedical Sciences at UCL before coming to Cambridge for an MPhil in Basic and Translational Neuroscience. In October 2023, I am starting my PhD in the Stroke Research Group under the supervision of Prof. Hugh Markus.

Research

Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is a condition affecting perforating blood vessels in the brain. It is a common cause of stroke and vascular dementia. For my PhD, I am aiming at investigating the relationship between inflammation and CSVD, with the use of brain imaging.
